Two people died and one person is in critical but stable condition after a traffic accident on Interstate Highway 680 Sunday evening in Pleasant Hill.
Two people who died after their vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier and overturned in Pleasant Hill on Sunday night were identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office.
Coroner's officials identified Emilio Lopez, 69, as the driver and Maria Lopez, 68, as the passenger who were seriously injured in the crash and later died.
A 78-year-old passenger was also in the car with the two Pleasant Hill residents, whose relation was not provided. Police said that woman is in critical but stable condition.
Pleasant Hill police responded at 8:05 p.m. Sunday to a call about a crash near Contra Costa Boulevard and its off-ramp from Interstate Highway 680, according to police.
Police said a vehicle overturned after it struck a concrete barrier. Details regarding the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
