Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency light-rail service has been restored near downtown San Jose after a van crashed into a pole Wednesday morning, a VTA spokeswoman said.
The Valley Transportation Valley sent out an alert at 9:26 a.m. saying there is no light rail service between Japan Town/Ayer and Downtown San Jose because of a van that took down a wire pole at 9 a.m. The pole was struck on North First Street at Taylor and Jackson streets, which were closed during repair work.
Agency staff members will stay in the area to monitor trains, which will be operating at 5 mph, down from the normal speed of 35 mph, until permanent repairs are made, according to Childress.
Crews will continue to work on the impacted tracks once the day's service ends shortly after midnight, she said.
