Man Arrested for Arson After Fire Ignites Outside Daly City Uber Building

Police said it does not appear that the Uber building was 'specifically targeted'

A person reportedly started some sort of fire outside an Uber office in Daly City late Sunday night, according to a witness. Pete Suratos reports.

A 26-year-old man was arrested for arson after allegedly starting a small fire outside an Uber building in Daly City late Sunday night, according to police.

The fire ignited around 10:45 p.m. near the front door of the Uber building located at 950 John Daly Blvd., police said.

According to a witness who did not want to be identified, someone put something down outside the building and then ran away.

"A few seconds later, flames went up in the air and it got bigger and bigger," the witness said.

The witness said they called 911, but by the time first responders arrived, the fire had died out.

The blaze damaged a front window, but the building did not go up in flames, according to police.

Officers eventually found suspect Casey Long near the back of the building, police said. He was arrested and taken to the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City.

Police said it does not appear that the Uber building was "specifically targeted."
