Westboro Baptist to Picket Jobs Funeral

Protest promised at Steve Jobs funeral

You probably didn't see this one coming.

While most of the world is mourning the loss of Apple icon Steve Jobs, the Westboro Baptist Church has announced it will protest his funeral.

In an twist of irony, the Topeka, Kansas church used Apple products to spread their latest message of hate.

The church admits they used an iPhone and Twitter to get the word out about the product.

“Westboro will picket his funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory and taught sin,” Margie Phelps, daughter of the church’s founder, Tweeted Wednesday.  The bottom of the tweet read,  “via Twitter for iPhone.”

Westboro often pickets outside soldiers’ funerals. They use the platform to hold posters splattered with anti-gay messages.

Margie Phelps also tweeted: “No peace for man who served self, not God” #hellgreetedhim. And “Westboro must picket.”

Margie Phelps responded to criticism that she used Apple products to promote the protest by saying that the phone was created by God, not Jobs, for that purpose.

She wrote to one guy, "Don't be silly, dear Ben! We're not against technology; we're against using it to promote what God hates."

Arrangements for Jobs’ funeral haven’t been announced. It will likely be private.
