Without Curry and Durant, Warriors Shocked by Kings

OAKLAND -- The Warriors stumbled and staggered and eventually they fell, taking a stunning 110-106 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night at Oracle Arena.

Klay Thompson scored a team-high 21 points to lead the offense. Pat McCaw put in a season-high 16 points, while Draymond Green had 14, Andre Iguodala 11 and Shaun Livingston 10.

The Warriors (15-6) were without leading scorers Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant and it showed, oddly enough, on defense. The Kings shot 53.2 percent, becoming the first team this season to shoot above 49 percent against the Warriors.

STANDOUT PERFORMER: The Warriors didn’t approach their usual high standard, but McCaw did a splendid job in his first start this season.

McCaw’s line: 16 points (5-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, 4-of-4 from the line), seven assists, four steals, three rebounds and one block. He played 33 minutes and finished plus-2.

TURNING POINT: This one was tight throughout, and the teams were never more than six points apart at any time in the fourth quarter and never more than four points apart over the final 9:59.

Not until Kings wiped out a four-point deficit by closing on an 8-0 run over the final 1:57 was this game decided.

The Warriors missed their last seven shots from the field.

INJURY UPDATE: Warriors: F Andre Iguodala (L knee soreness) was listed as doubtful and upgraded to available prior to tipoff. G Stephen Curry (R hand contusion) and F Kevin Durant (L ankle sprain) were listed as out. C Damian Jones is on assignment with the G-League Santa Cruz Warriors.

Kings: F Harry Giles (bilateral knee rehabilitation) was listed as out.
