Woman Pleads in Husband's Stabbing

Stun gun, knife used in attack, according to prosecutors.

A California woman has pleaded not guilty to stabbing her estranged husband in what a prosecutor describes as a carefully plotted attempt to kill.

Fifty-year-old Laura Jean Wenke of Los Altos is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a stun gun.

She entered not guilty pleas on Thursday and remains in jail without bail. San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says Wenke carefully plotted the attack.

The San Jose Mercury News says Wenke was dressed in coveralls, rubber boots and bubble wrap when she attacked her husband's Redwood City office.

Prosecutors say she discharged a stun gun into her estranged husband's side and stabbed him in the neck and chest as he sat at a computer. He survived the attack.
