Yosemite HD

A new time-lapse film shows the wonders of a wonder-filled park.

YOSEMITE HD: Ever been in Yosemite Valley and taken that perfect snapshot? The one you send around and post everywhere and enter in contests and try to duplicate in grandeur and beauty whenever you revisit the park? Our own preen-worthy photos usually happen in the meadows -- and yes, our camera is usually pointed toward Half Dome (good guess) -- but there are many spectacular places in which to set up a camera, point, and click. Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill explored many of those locales for their epic new short film Yosemite HD. It's a time-lapse love letter to the national park, in short, and while the hallmarks and classics have made it in -- hi again, Half Dome -- look for many views you don't normally see. The pair shot over 19 days (not consecutive) and covered the better part of the park, and that epic journey shines through. Here's the film. It's a beaut.

AND SPEAKING OF A BEAUT... We are just days away from the kick off of National Park Week. It's a week to think and be reverent about our wild, protected places, yes, but, let's be real: We like saving some dough, too. Many of the parks that usually charge entrance fees waive those fees during the week, including our own Yosemite. Feelin' very HD indeed over that news. National Park Week is on from April 21-29, 2012.
