A New York man wanted for multiple arrest warrants on domestic violence and harassment of his ex-girlfriend reportedly taunted police on Facebook, "Catch me in you can, I'm in Brooklyn."
The suspect, Ruben Burgos, 29, was sought by Utica Police June 6 after allegedly calling up his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her. He then fled to his hometown of New York City, according to police. After his mugshot appeared on the police department's 10 Most Wanted list later in June, he threw down the challenge for the cops to find him, according to the New York Daily News.
"He told us via Facebook to come and get him and we did," Utica police Sgt. Steve Hauck told the Daily News.
Burgos was sitting at his computer in a Brooklyn apartment, with his Facebook page open, as a task force of U.S. Marshals and New York City police detectives tracked him down and captured the suspect.
Burgos apparently had little respect for the police, having filmed and posted a video of himself on his Web page walking into an NYPD precinct. (After his arrest on July 25, the alleged taunts were deleted from Burgos' account.)
Is this a story about just desserts? Or about being too stupid for your own good?
