JFK on Space: ‘We Choose to Go to the Moon'
On Sept. 12, 1963, President John F. Kennedy made a pledge: By the end of the decade, the United States would put a man on the moon. He made the pledge in a famous speech at Rice University, in Houston, Texas. “We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard,” he said.
