Iraqi troops recaptured a hospital in Fallujah and advanced into a neighborhood as forces fight to reclaim the city from ISIS militants, NBC News reported.
Fallujah hospital was liberated Saturday. Troops surrounded the hospital, but were worried that ISIS could use patients as human shields.
Troops continue to clear mines left behind by the terror group as they forge ahead into the city. Fallujah has been under ISIS control since 2013, according to an Iraqi military official.
Senior U.S. defense officials warned the fight for Fallujah was far from over. More than 3,500 civilians have been killed since military operations began in the city, a source at the hospital told NBC News.
