“People's Republic of Donetsk” Looks to Be Next Crimea

A pro-Russian, breakaway republic is setting up a parallel government in eastern Ukraine, just days after a controversial vote for independence, and a little over a week before Ukraine's presidential election, NBC News reported. The so-called "People's Republic of Donetsk," which voted to be a part of Russia in a referendum on Sunday, is writing a constitution and planning fall elections as it waits for a response from Moscow. So far Russia has not endorsed the separatist region's request for accession. The Ukrainian prime minister continued to blame Russia for unrest and violence, demanding that it "publicly withdraw its sabotage groups" from Ukraine's east.
