Nearly 2 million pounds of ground beef have been recalled after the meat was linked to at least 11 cases of E. coli, NBC News reported. The bug in question is a rare type of E. coli that usually pops up in one or two people a month in the U.S. Officials at the CDC took notice when it was reported that 11 people had contracted the rare strain in the span of just two weeks. Wolverine Packing Co. announced a voluntary recall of beef products produced between March 31 and April 18. The recall affects retail meat distributors in 10 states. In a statement, Wolverine officials said none of their products tested positive for any strain of E. coli and that the meat was recalled as a precaution.
