Seven people were killed and seven more injured when a man identified by authorities as Elliot Rodger attacked three people at an apartment before opening fire in the college town of Isla Vista near the University of California, Santa Barbara, Friday night.

Date Undetermined: Three victims are stabbed in the residence of Elliot Rodger, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department. The male victims were stabbed with sharp object in what the sheriff called an "horrific crime scene."

9:27 p.m.: Reports of shots fired in the Isla Vista area were called in to the Santa Barbara County Emergency Communications Center. Two gunshot victims are killed outside a sorority house.
9:30 p.m.: Additional reports of shots fired in several other areas of Isla Vista; suspect’s vehicle description broadcast to law enforcement in the area. A third shooting victim is shot and killed outside a deli, where Rodger exited the car and fired several rounds.
9:33 p.m.: Suspect fires shots at deputies. Deputies fire back. Suspect flees.

9:34 p.m.: Another deputy sees suspect. The suspect and deputy exchange gunfire. Suspect flees down Del Playa Drive.
9:37 p.m.: Suspect crashes into parked vehicle. Deputies approach vehicle and find suspect dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

2:40 a.m.: Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown holds press conference and confirms that seven people were killed, including the suspect, and seven more injured at a total of nine different crime scenes.
5 p.m.: Brown announces the discovery of the three stabbing victims at Rodger's apartment. The bodies were discovered when deputies investigating the Friday night shootings went to the apartment. He also reveals that three handguns and 400 rounds of ammunition were found in Rodger's car.
11 p.m.: The sheriff's office identifies three UC Santa Barbara students among the dead. They are: Veronika Elizabeth Weiss, 19, of Westlake Village, Katherine Breann Cooper, 22, of Chino Hills, and Christopher Ross Michaels-Martinez, 20, of Los Osos.

4 p.m.: The three men found stabbed dead inside Rodger's apartment were identified as 19-year-old George Chen of San Jose, 20-year-old C.H., also of San Jose, and 20-year-old Weihan Wang of Fremont. All three were UC Santa Barbara students.
