American special forces on Sunday seized the the alleged ringleader of the 2012 Benghazi embassy attacks, Ahmed Abu Khattala. He was captured near Benghazi and is now in U.S. custody in a secure location outside of Libya, according to officials. He will be tried in a U.S. court — most likely in Washington, D.C. — and faces charges of killing a person in the course of an attack on a federal facility, providing material support to terrorists that result in death, and using a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. The charges carry a maximum penalty of death.
