The Giants made the World Series. It is time for much celebrating. But first, we should take a look at the 2012 MLB World Series schedule, so you know when to watch the Giants play in the World Series.
Yes, that's right. We're taking the Buster Posey approach to this one: biz-ness, y'all. The Giants might have won six consecutive elimination games (down 2-0 to Cincinnati and down 3-1 to St. Louis, no big deal), but there's four more games to win before the celebrating can really take place.
Game 1 of the 2012 World Series will take place in San Francisco Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT. It's expected that this will be a matchup of two Cy Young winners, Justin Verlander and ... Barry Zito. No, really.
Bruce Bochy has yet to announce his starter, but it's certainly looking that way.
Game 2 will take place in San Francisco as well, on Thursday at 5 p.m. PT. Doug Fister will start for the Tigers. The Giants could go with Ryan Vogelsong on short rest or trot out one of Tim Lincecum/Madison Bumgarner.
Game 3 moves back to Detroit on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT. The Tigers will start Max Scherzer and the Giants will likely either go with Vogelsong on normal rest or use Matt Cain on a slightly shorter break.
Game 4 is in Detroit on Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. PT. Detroit's rolling out Verlander for this bad boy again and the Giants will likely go with Zito once more.
Sports
The series finishes in Detroit -- if necessary -- with Game 5 on Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. PT. Fister would go for the Tigers again barring some surprising change.
Then the teams head back to San Francisco for Game 6 of the series, which will go down on Halloween. That's Oct. 31 for those that don't know and first pitch is, once again, at 5 p.m. PT. Halloween is an already awesome holiday, but having thousands of Giants fans show up to AT&T Park in costume (most presumably Giants themed) to watch the team would be amazing.
Game 7 is the next night, if necessary, with the World Series ending on November 1 in San Francisco, if it goes that long. First pitch is at 5 p.m. PT and this is just a guess, but if the Tigers need this series to go seven games, they'll start Verlander three times.
The Giants hope that doesn't happen, although we're not sure the Tigers want to face San Francisco in an elimination game this postseason.
