Browns Quarterback Johnny Manziel Leaves Rehab: Report

A person familiar with the situation says Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has been released from a rehab facility.

Manziel entered the undisclosed clinic Jan. 28 for treatment of an unspecified problem. The person said he was discharged Saturday, speaking on condition of anonymity because of privacy issues.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner had been allowed to leave for short periods over the past month. The Browns expect Manziel to participate in their offseason program, which begins April 20.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and coach Mike Pettine have pledged their support of Manziel, emphasizing that his personal recovery comes ahead of football. The team remains optimistic about Manziel, who was drafted in the first round last year and spent most of his rookie season backing up Brian Hoyer before playing poorly in two starts.

Manziel's release was first reported by ESPN.
