J.T. O'Sullivan Could Find Himself Benched

The J.T. O'Sullivan honeymoon appears as if it's dangerously close to coming to an end in San Francisco, as yet another shaky performance on Sunday is leading to questions about whether or not the journeyman could find himself in a rather familiar place ... the bench.

From Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee:

Mike Nolan, who last week brushed aside suggestions that O'Sullivan might get the hook, was more open to the possibility after today's game. "We'll watch the film and we'll evaluate that," Nolan said when asked whether he was thinking about replacing O'Sullivan with backup Shaun Hill

O'Sullivan put up passer ratings of 80.6, 106.4, and 123.3 in his first three starts, throwing three touchdowns and completing nearly 70% of his passes. The 49ers were 2-1 and it led to offensive coordinator Mike Martz suggesting the sixth-year veteran could, potentially, be the best quarterback he's ever coached.

It's been all downhill since then, as O'Sullivan's completion percentage has fallen and he's failed to put up a passer rating over 70 in his previous four starts ... all losses for the 49ers.
