The La Russas just keep giving to the East Bay. From three consecutive World Series appearances under then-manager Tony La Russa to dance-stepping the sidelines for the Raiders. Wait, what?
Bianca La Russa, Tony's daughter, is an Oakland Raiderette as of last week and she's living the dream. That is, she tweeted "A goal and a dream come true - I'm a 2011 Raiderette! I'm so excited to rep an organization that does so much good."
Of course, at present, there is no 2011 NFL season, so the good being done by the Raiders is not having a head coach travel with a mistress or a bizarre quarterback controversy, but Bianca should continue to dream.
Bianca is helps her dad's Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek, too. ARF is a no-kill shelter. Tony and his wife, Elaine, "after he rescued a terrified stray cat that ran onto the field during an A's-Yankees game," according to their site. (Unclear if Bianca is holding that same kitty.)
Maybe Tony will take some time to revisit the Bay Area while his St. Louis Cardinals watch the National League playoffs in October.
