Nuggets Loss Gives Warriors Homecourt Advantage in First Round of NBA Playoffs

Warriors clinch homecourt advantage after Nuggets loss to Spurs originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Chase Center will not only host its first NBA playoff game, but it will prove the Warriors with an electric homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters on Tuesday that Golden State's number one goal was to secure homecourt advantage with at least one win in their final three games.

The Denver Nuggets made it easy for them, losing 116-97 to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night at Ball Arena. Denver's loss means that the Warriors will clinch homecourt advantage as either the third or fourth seed in the Western Conference.

Currently, Golden State (50-29) is the No. 3 seed, with the fourth-seeded Dallas Mavericks (49-30) just a half-game back.

With three games remaining, the Warriors would certainly love the highest seed possible and any advantage over the Mavericks, who have won three of the four matchups against Golden State this season.

The Warriors will face the Los Angeles Lakers (31-47), Spurs (33-45) and New Orleans Pelicans (34-44) to close out the regular season.
