Steph glad Wiggins 'handled responsibilities' by getting vaccine originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
After a lot of consternation, Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins relented and got the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning the forward will be eligible to play in all of Golden State's home games.
Steph Curry is glad his Wiggins made the responsible choice.
"Obviously, I think it's great that he is going to be available," Curry told reporters Monday at shootaround, via The San Francisco Chronicle's Connor Letourneau. "Whatever process he went through to get to that decision, he'll be able to speak on that. We're excited to have him. I think that was a whole conversation, to begin with. It's a good sign of just handling his responsibilities as a member of the team. Again, whatever the process was is for him to kind of explain."
Wiggins had said he was not planning on getting vaccinated and was reluctant to explain his reason for avoiding the vaccine during Warriors Media Day. Had Wiggins not been fully vaccinated by Oct. 13, he would not be allowed inside Chase Center for games or practices due to a San Francisco city mandate.
Had Wiggins been forced to miss Warriors home games, he would have had to forfeit half of his season salary as the NBA announced that players who had to miss games for being unvaccinated would not be paid their game checks.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced Sunday that Wiggins had been vaccinated and would be available for all Warriors games.

With the Wiggins vaccination storyline behind them, Curry and the Warriors now can focus on preparing to vault back into title contention after spending the last two postseasons watching the playoffs from home.
