We are 100 days to the Tokyo Olympic Games!
NBC Bay Area in partnership with the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California on Wednesday hosted an event to mark the milestone at San Francisco's historic Japantown. The event was emceed by NBC Bay Area anchor Raj Mathai and featured local Olympians.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed and San Francisco Supervisor Dean Preston also made remarks at the event.
In addition, Bay Area Olympians Kristi Yamaguchi, Alexander Massialas, Greg Massialas and Anne Warner Cribbs presented medallions to residents from Japantown and the surrounding areas in San Francisco who have shown exceptional courage and strength during the COVID-19 pandemic.
NBC Bay Area is the Bay Area's exclusive home for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Coverage begins on Friday, July 23 with a live broadcast of the Tokyo Opening Ceremony.
