The assumption that customers would reach out for many more iPhones once they were available with Verizon may do that thing that "assuming" does to you and me.
According to an industry analyst, HTC's Thunderbolt is outselling iPhone at Verizon Wireless stores.
The 'Bolt is Android-based and optimized for Verizon's zoom-zoom 4G network.
Walter Piecyk, via BGR.com, at international research firm BTIG called 150 stores and found that 28 percent of stores said the Thunderbolt was selling better, with only 11 percent pointing to the iPhone.
Of course it's not a spreadsheet-proven, drill-down data dive but it is anecdotal -- and it provides that light in the tunnel for phone makers trying to catch the iPhone.
