More than half of Verizon's Android and BlackBerry users want to switch to the iPhone when it comes to Verizon Feb. 10, according to a new study.
The study by online research company uSamp consists of sample of 727 users taken in late January, and found that 54 percent of respondents who have an Android or BlackBerry smartphone on Verizon were very likely (25 percent) or somewhat likely (29 percent) to get a Verizon iPhone next week, according to AppleInsider. That's 44 percent of Android users and 66 of BlackBerry users, broken down by platform.
The survey also reported men were more likely to switch, 32 percent compared to 20 percent of women; and those aged 18-24 and 25-34 were also more likely to switch -- 71 percent and 60 percent respectively. The study also reported that 26 percent of AT&T iPhone users also planned to switch over to Verizon.
While the findings may seem like a slam-dunk for the iPhone and Verizon, the survey only uses 727 people. That's the same number of people with smartphones on one floor of a building in San Francisco -- hardly a large enough sample size to judge national habits. (The other information, on who is more likely to wait outside is a no-brainer, it always tends to be younger people. Older people tend to have jobs and commitments.)
Either way, we will see what happens next week -- but I doubt it will be the mass exodus from Android and BlackBerry uSamp predicts.
