Monkey Selfie Lawsuit Kicks Off

The battle over a monkey selfie heads to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco Wednesday. The court will hear arguments on whether or not a monkey has the copyright to a selfie it took. The case stems from an episode four years ago when a monkey took a camera from a photographer and snapped his own picture. The animal rights group PETA argues the monkey owns the rights to the photo. A lower court ruled last year that the selfie does not belong to the animal. /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";}
