New Law Coming for Bus Riders in 2018
People who plan to take trips on commercial buses in 2018 will need to buckle up. This law – the first of its kind in the nation – was inspired by a Greyhound bus crash in San Jose where two people were killed. The grisly crash occurred last year on Highway 101 at the Highway 85 interchange. A lack of reflective warning markers on the roadway was blamed for the collision. Under the new law, drivers and passengers who don’t use their seat belts can be fined $20 for the first offense. Repeat offenders will have to shell out $50 every time.
