American Tara Davis-Woodhall claimed her first Olympic medal, winning the women’s high jump with a massive leap of 7.10 meters. Fellow U.S. athlete Jasmine Moore took bronze, her second medal of these Olympics.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shattered her own world record in the women's 400m hurdles and won her second consecutive gold medal in the event. American teammate Anna Cockrell won silver.

United States star Grant Holloway completed his quest and secured the Olympic crown in the men's 110m hurdles, storming across the line first to win his first gold medal.

After trailing by double digits for most of the game, Team USA rallied late in the fourth and avoided an upset versus Serbia with a 95-91 win.

Steph Curry led the way with 36 points while Joel Embiid added a big 19 and LeBron James scored 16.

The U.S. previously beat Serbia 105-79 in an exhibition July 17 and again 110-84 July 28 in the first game of Paris pool play.

The U.S. will play Victor Wembanyama and France for gold on Saturday.

Noah Lyles told NBC's Lewis Johnson that he woke up early Tuesday morning "feeling really horrible" before testing positive for COVID. The diagnosis came just hours after he won gold in the 100m final.

But Lyles said he never considered dropping out of the 200m event despite how he was feeling, adding that he was "proud" of earning bronze for a second straight Olympics.

"It's taken its toll for sure, but I've never been more proud of myself for being able to come out here and get a bronze medal," Lyles said. "Last Olympics I was very disappointed and this time I couldn't be more proud."

Lyles said he didn't know whether he would compete in the men's 4x100m relay final on Friday.

Pakistan has three Olympic gold medals in men's field hockey, but it never had an individual champion -- until now.

Arshad Nadeem earned gold in the men's javelin throw Thursday, posting an Olympic record score of 92.97 to beat India's Neeraj Chopra and Grenada's Anderson Peters, the respective silver and bronze medalists.

Pakistan had two individual medalists prior to Paris, with both being bronze. The last came in 1988 when Hussain Shah earned bronze in men's middleweight boxing.

USA's Grant Holloway is now an Olympic champion.

The Tokyo silver medalist and three-time world champion won gold in the men's 110-meter hurdles. His US teammate Daniel Roberts took silver.

Rasheed Broadbell of Jamaica came in third.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone continued to own the women's 400m hurdles, breaking her own world record to win gold for a second straight Games.

And after becoming the event's first two-time Olympic champion, McLaughlin-Levrone celebrated by donning a fitting piece of headwear at Stade de France: a crown.

Serbia can't stop getting buckets. After a hot first quarter where it led by double digits, the momentum continued in the second with a 54-43 lead.

Serbia shot 19 of 35 overall (54.3%) and 10 of 19 (52.6%) from long range. Aleksa Avramovic led the way with 15 points while Bogdan Bogdanovic added 12. Nikola Jokic logged nine points and seven assists.

For the U.S., Steph Curry had 20 points after a 17-point first 10 minutes. LeBron James added nine while Joel Embiid posted seven. As a team, they shot 15 of 31 overall (48.4%) and 9 of 19 from deep (47.4%).

Italy beat Turkey in their women's volleyball semifinal match Thursday, claiming a 3-0 set sweep.

Italy won the sets 25-22, 25-19 and 25-22 as it will claim its first Olympic medal in the sport regardless of the result in the final.

The U.S., reigning champions, beat Brazil 3-2 in their semifinal contest earlier Thursday and will look to repeat as gold winners.

Team USA star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke her own world record in the women's 400m hurdles final, finishing in 50.37 to capture her second straight Olympic title. McLaughlin-Levrone became the event's first two-time Olympic champion and has now broken the world record six times since 2021.

American Anna Cockrell finished second in 51.87 to win her first Olympic medal. The Netherlands' Femke Bol took bronze in 52.15.

Team USA's Jasmine Jones finished one spot off the podium with a time of 52.29.

Team USA's Tara Davis-Woodhall took gold Thursday in the women's long jump at the Paris Olympics.

Germany's Malaika Mihambo took silver while Team USA's Jasmine Moore earned bronze.

Mihambo won the long jump at the Tokyo Games.

The U.S. men's basketball team is in a bit of trouble after the first 10 minutes.

Despite Steph Curry's blazing hot start that featured 17 points with 5 of 7 made triples, the U.S. didn't have another single player eclipse three points.

Serbia, meanwhile, was lights out on offense. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the way with nine points on a 4 of 5 start.

Noah Lyles was diagnosed with COVID-19 two days before running in today's 200m final, according to the NBC broadcast.

The diagnosis was revealed after Lyles placed third in the final and then struggled to make his way off the track. Lyles has been dealing with asthma since he was a kid.

A Paris 2024 spokesperson said Lyles was taken away from the track in a wheelchair because he couldn’t walk away on his own. He is now with the medical team on site.

The three-time defending gold medalists have been eliminated.

Australia defeated the U.S. 14-13 in Thursday's women's water polo semifinal, which ended in a penalty shootout.

Both sides made their first five shots in the shootout, which led to a sudden death scenario. Australia's Zoe Arancini made the sixth-round shot, then the U.S.'s Maddie Musselman missed to end the game.

Australia is now in the gold medal match for the first time since 2000, while the U.S. will play the Netherlands for bronze on Saturday at 4:35 a.m. ET/1:35 a.m. PT.

The gold medal match between Australia and Spain will be played on Saturday at 9:35 a.m. ET/6:35 a.m. PT.

Team USA's Kenny Bednarek and Noah Lyles finished second and third, respectively, in the men's 200m final for a second straight Olympics as Botswana's Letsile Tebogo pulled off the upset win with a time 19.46.

Bednarek finished in 19.62 to repeat as the silver medalist and Lyles crossed the line in 19.70 to claim another bronze. Lyles was attempting to become just the 10th man to ever pull off the rare Olympic sprint double after winning 100m gold earlier in the Games.

Tebogo, who posted the top semifinal time of 19.96, made the Olympic podium for the first time.

American Erriyon Knighton placed fifth with a time of 20.09.

Team USA men's basketball had no problems dispatching Serbia in pre-Olympic exhibition and Paris pool play, but it will have to do so again for a spot in the gold medal game.

Led by Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic, Serbia fell by double digits twice to the U.S. in recent weeks.

Victor Wembanyama and France awaits the winner after dispatching Dennis Schroder and Germany in the first semifinal matchup.

The U.S. has won four straight Olympic golds dating back to Beijing in 2008.

Business is picking up in the women's water polo semifinal.

After seven goals were scored in the entire first half, the U.S. and Australia combined for six in the third quarter. Australia's Abby Andrews scored four goals in the frame to cut the deficit from three to one.

The U.S. now leads 7-6, with a spot in the final against Spain up for grabs over the final eight minutes to come.

Team USA is 16 minutes from reaching the gold medal match in women's water polo.

The U.S., after leading 2-1 through the first quarter, extended its lead over Australia to 5-2 at halftime.

Seeking a fourth consecutive gold medal, the team would face Spain in the final if it holds on to beat Australia.

Through one quarter, the U.S. women's water polo team is leading.

Team USA leads Australia 2-1 after eight minutes in Thursday's semifinal.

Maddie Musselman and Jenna Flynn scored for the Americans, while Charlize Andrews got Australia on the board with just nine seconds to play in the quarter.

Grant Hill and Jaylen Brown haven't seen eye-to-eye about Brown's omission from Team USA in 2024. But Hill says he's willing to move past their differences.

Hill, the managing director for USA Basketball who had final say in the club's 12-man roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics, spoke with host Rachel Nichols on the "All The Smoke" podcast Wednesday about Team USA's replacing the injured Kawhi Leonard with Boston Celtics guard Derrick White, a decision that set Brown off on social media.

"When you have a team with the profile of players on this team, you know there's going to be controversy," Hill told Nichols. "Yeah, (the controversy with Brown) was disappointing, but look, you've got to do your job. You've got to do the job the best you can. I've tried to do this the right way."

Brown believed his omission was tied to his past criticism of Nike, the official apparel sponsor of Team USA. Hill dismissed Brown's stance as a "conspiracy theory," which caused the NBA Finals MVP to fire back and call Hill's comments "disappointing."

Despite all that back-and-forth, Hill insists he's ready to let bygones be bygones -- and even suggested Brown would be in the mix for the 2028 Olympic roster if he wants to participate.

Helen Maroulis' chase for a second Olympic gold medal came to an end.

Maroulis, who won gold at the 2016 Olympics, lost her 57kg freestyle semifinal against Japan's Tsugumi Sakurai by a score of 10-4.

She will return to the mat tomorrow with a chance at a second straight Olympic bronze after a third-place finish in Tokyo.

The quest for a gold-medal four-peat continues for the U.S. women's water polo squad.

Up next is a semifinal match against Australia, who fell in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics.

Should the U.S. triumph, it would advance to the final on Saturday, Aug. 10 against Spain (who defeated the Netherlands in the first semifinal).

Aaron Brooks was seconds away from reaching a gold medal match in his first Olympics, but Bulgaria's Magomed Ramazanov came up with a clutch move in the final seconds to make it out of the men's 86kg freestyle semifinals with a 4-3 win.

One of only seven wrestlers all-time to win four NCAA titles, Brooks will compete for a bronze medal on Friday.

American wrestler Spencer Lee rolled past Uzbekistan's Gulomjon Abdullaev in the men's 57-kilogram freestyle semifinals, winning 12-0.

The three-time NCAA champion will face Japan's Rei Higuchi in the 57kg final on Friday.

Germany came out swinging, but France bounced back to tie their men's basketball semifinal showdown at 33-33 entering halftime.

Germany took an early 10-point lead in the first quarter before France started clawing back. The host nation stepped up on the defensive side, holding its European counterpart to just eight points in the second quarter.

The winner of France-Germany will play the winner of the second semifinal between Team USA and Serbia for the gold medal.

Team USA is ready to defend its gold medal in women's volleyball.

The U.S. defeated Brazil 3-2 in Thursday's semifinal, which was a rematch of the gold medal match three years ago.

Both sides were even throughout the contest. The U.S. took the first (25-23) and third sets (25-15), Brazil won the second (25-18) and fourth (25-23).

It all came down to a decisive fifth set. The U.S. took control midway through the set, breaking a tie at eight with four straight points to pull ahead 12-8. It led 14-10, and Kathryn Plummer spiked home the winner at 15-11.

The gold medal match is Sunday at 7 a.m. ET/4 a.m. PT with the winner of Turkey vs. Italy facing the U.S.

Evita Griskenas has been knocked out of medal contention in the individual artistic gymnastics all-around competition.

With eight competitors left to go, Griskenas was pushed out of the top 10 after Taisiia Onofriichuk of Ukraine completed her fourth rotation and shot up the ranking to take fourth place with a score of 136.450.

Griskenas received a total of 118.500 points for her four performances, one each using a hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon. Only the top ten athletes in the qualifiers move on to the finals.

After winning two medals in Paris, Jordan Chiles is going back to school in the next Summer Olympic host city.

The USA Gymnastics star announced that she is returning to the UCLA gymnastics team. Chiles competed for the Bruins in 2022 and 2023 before stepping away to focus on Olympic training.

Chiles made the announcement with TODAY's Hota Kotb on Thursday with her gold and bronze medals around her neck.

The U.S. women's volleyball team is on the brink of reaching its second straight gold medal match.

The defending Olympic champions took a 2-1 lead over Brazil in Thursday's semifinal after a 25-15 win in the third set.

Now, Team USA just needs to win one more set to earn a chance at defending its gold medal on Sunday.

China's Luo Shifang shattered three Olympic records in the women's 59-kilogram weightlifting event.

Shifang set new Olympic highs in the snatch (107kg), clean and jerk (134kg) and total (241kg) on her way to a gold medal. She fell shy of the 248-kilogram world record, which she set in April.

The win was China's 28th gold of the Paris Olympics, putting the country ahead of Team USA in the gold medal count.

Canada's Maude Charron (236kg total) got silver and Chinese Taipei's Kuo Hsing-Chun (235kg total) got bronze.

With only a few days left of Summer Olympics action, it's not too early to start thinking about the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Brazil and the U.S. are now tied 1-1 after two sets in Thursday's women's volleyball semifinal.

Brazil took the second set 25-18, maintaining control from start to finish.

The U.S. never led in the set, as Brazil took a 3-2 advantage early and pulled away from there.

The U.S. women's volleyball team won the first set against Brazil in the women's volleyball semifinal, 25-23.

Team USA trailed 19-16 before scoring five straight points to regain control of the set. Brazil battled back to tie the score at 21, 22 and 23, but the U.S. finished it off with Kathryn Plummer hitting two strong attacking shots.

This rematch of the Tokyo Olympics final is off to a thrilling start, with more action still to come.

First-time Olympian Carson Tyler placed fourth in the men's 3-meter springboard final with a 429.25 total score.

The 20-year-old was the only American in the event and is just the third American ever to qualify for both the 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform at the same Olympics. He will compete in 10-meter platform on Friday, beginning with the preliminary round.

Xie Siyi defended his Olympic title and gave China its seventh men's springboard gold in the last eight Olympics. He finished with a 543.60, comfortably ahead of silver-winning Wang Zongyuan of China (530.20) and bronze-winning Osmar Olvera of Mexico (500.40).

China is now 6-for-6 when it comes to winning diving golds in Paris. Only the men's 10m platform and women's 3m springboard remain.

The men’s kite semifinals have been delayed again because of a lack of wind in Marseille, a familiar problem for anyone following the sailing events this week.  

Earlier today, Austrians Lara Vadlau and Lukas Maehr took gold in the mixed dinghy after the medal race was inevitably postponed until wind conditions improved. Okada Keiju and Yoshioka Miho of Japan won silver, and Sweden’s Anton Dahlberg and Lovisa Karlsson won bronze.

In the mixed multihull event, which was rescheduled from yesterday, Italy’s Ruggero Tita and Caterina Marianna Bantio are back-to-back Olympic champions. Silver went to the Argentine crew of Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco, while Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson of New Zealand won the bronze.

American climber Sam Watson smashed the world record he set just two days earlier during the small final race in the men's speed climbing final. Watson's 4.74-second run rewarded him with an Olympic bronze medal.

Team USA's Nelly Korda has found her form in the second round of the women's golf competition and now finds herself toward the top of the leaderboard.

After a dismal round saw the defending gold medalist just about par yesterday, she is tied for second place with a five-under-par day so far. She is through the first 12 holes of the day and is currently three shots behind current leader Morgane Metraux of Switzerland.

With Korda's fortunes changing course, overnight leader Celine Boutier's hopes have gone the other way. The French golfer carded a brilliant round of seven-under-par yesterday, but a nightmare round of four-over saw her drop down the leaderboard as she returned to the clubhouse.

Team USA's Lilia Vu has also carded an over-par day. She is now one-under for the tournament and will need a strong performance over the weekend to have any chance of medaling.

Spain is heading to the women's water polo gold medal match after defeating the Netherlands 19-18 in the semifinal, which ended in a penalty shootout.

Despite leading 6-1 after the first quarter and 10-5 at halftime, the Spaniards were trailing late in the fourth quarter as the Dutch made a furious comeback.

It was 13-12, Netherlands leading, with under three minutes to play when Elena Ruiz tied the game up. Spain then took the lead with 30 seconds to play before the Netherlands scored with just seven seconds remaining to force a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, both sides converted on their first four attempts. The Netherlands was stonewalled by Martina Terré in the fifth round, then Maica García Godoy buried the final shot to give Spain the victory.

The U.S. and Australia will meet in the second semifinal at 1:35 p.m. ET/10:35 a.m. PT, with the winner playing Spain and the loser facing the Netherlands.

Three-time Olympic champion Rowdy Gaines, who has been the swimming analyst for NBC Sports since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, announced that he will retire after the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“I’m riding off into the sunset of full time grandparent!” Gaines wrote on social media.

Germany defended its gold medal in the men's kayak four after winning the title at the 2020 Tokyo Games, which were the Olympics first to feature the men's K-4 event. Australia got silver after finishing just .04 seconds behind Germany in the final, while Spain claimed bronze.

New Zealand won its first ever K-4 gold on the women's side.

Germany earned silver and Hungary, the three-time defending gold medalists in the event, came away with bronze.

Nick Mead found out he was going to be a U.S. flag bearer for Sunday's Closing Ceremony with some help from his teammates.

Justin Best, Michael Grady and Liam Corrigan, who won gold with Mead in the men's four rowing competition, broke the news to Mead in Paris.

"I got chills," Mead said as he adorned a special jacket.

The second gentleman will join the Olympic crowds in Paris cheering on Team USA Thursday.

Doug Emhoff is scheduled for three events around the city prior to 3 p.m. ET, when he is set to take in the scenes at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.

What events Emhoff will be attending is not known, but a good guess would be the men's basketball game against Serbia -- set to tip around the second gentleman's Thursday itinerary.

Of course, there's a men's 200m final that also might have his attention.

From Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles bowing down to gold medalist Rebeca Andrade on the podium, to North Korean and South Korean athletes posing for a selfie, the Paris Olympics has featured extraordinary moments of sportsmanship.

American golfer Nelly Korda is heading to the back nine at Le Golf National.

Korda is building momentum after a sluggish start that saw three bogeys in the first seven holes during Wednesday's opening round.

Since then, the reigning Olympic gold medal winner in women's golf has carded six birdies — good enough to get her to three-under par on the tournament and T-4 with six others as of 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

With nine holes remaining in the second round, Korda is chasing Switzerland's Morgane Metraux who finished six-under for the day and now is alone atop the leaderboard at eight-under through 36 holes.

Katie Ledecky says she is pumped to be a U.S. flag bearer with rower Nick Mead at Sunday's Closing Ceremony.

"Honored to lead @TeamUSA at the Closing Ceremony with Nick!" Ledecky wrote on X. "Proud of my teammates here in Paris, and excited to celebrate with all of them on Sunday."

With the first phase of rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around qualifiers wrapped up, Evita Griskenas is currently in 19th place with a score of 61.700 after two rotations.

Griskenas, the only American competing in the event, needs a major points boost in the second phase in order to break the top ten to qualify for the finals.

The top three in the ranking so far are Sofia Raffaeli of Italy (70.150), Boryana Kaleyn of Bulgaria (69.950) and Taisiia Onofriichuk of Ukraine (69.500).

Another win for American wrestler Helen Maroulis, who defeated Alina Hrushyna of Ukraine 7-4 to head to the semifinals of the women's freestyle 57 kilograms.

The Maryland native is hoping to earn another Olympic medal and will have a chance to get a step closer when she wrestles Tsugumi Sakurai of Japan in the semis later today.

Spencer Lee is also onto the semifinals after taking down Bekzat Almaz Uulu of Kyrgyzstan 12-2 in the men's 57 kilogram.

Lee will wrestle 7-seed Gulomjon Abdullaev of Uzbekistan when the semifinal matches kick off at 12:15 p.m. ET.

Another American, Penn State alum Aaron Brooks, won his quarterfinal 11-1 and is into this afternoon's 86-kilogram semifinals where's he'll wrestle Magomed Ramazanov of Bulgaria.

Team USA's Anna Hall is in third place in the women's heptathlon following the high jump.

She cleared 1.89 meters in the second event, bringing her point total to 2,164. Only Great Britain's Katarina Johnson-Thompson (2,197 points) and two-time defending gold medalist Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium (2,173 points) are higher in the standings.

Fellow American Taliyah Brooks is sixth with 2,065 points. Chari Hawkins, who is making her Olympic debut for the U.S. at 33 years old, plummeted down the standings after getting no mark in the high jump.

The heptathlon will continue later today with the shot put and 200-meter sprint.

Brandon Miller went coast-to-coast in the men's 800-meter repechage to earn a spot in the semifinals.

The American led the final heat from the start and posted a 1:44.21, the top time of all runners across the four repechage heats.

Miller joins fellow Team USA runners Bryce Hoppel and Hobbs Kessler in the 800-meter semifinals, which will be held tomorrow morning.

American sport climber Brooke Raboutou advanced to the women's boulder and lead final after placing third overall in the semifinals.

Raboutou entered today's lead semifinal in third place after scoring 83.7 points in Tuesday's boulder semifinal. She picked up 72.1 points in the lead semifinal to bring her total to 155.8.

It was Raboutou's climb that officially knocked fellow American Natalia Grossman out of final contention. Grossman had been in eighth place before Raboutou started but finished in 11th with 108.3 points.

Slovenia's Janja Garnbret (195.7 points) and Austria's Jessica Pilz (156.9 points) are ahead of Raboutou and will be the climbers to beat in Saturday's final.

Helen Maroulis took down India's wrestler Anshu Malik 7-2 in a difficult opening bout in the women's freestyle 57 kilograms qualifiers. Maroulis, the Rio Olympics gold medalist, moves on to quarterfinals, where she'll wrestle Alina Hrushyna of Ukraine.

Over on Mat A, Spencer Lee defeated Zou Wanhao of China 3-2 in the men's 57 kilogram and also moves on to the quarterfinals, where he'll take on Bekzat Almaz Uulu of Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier at the Champ-de-Mars Arena, American wrestler Dominique Parrish was defeated by Japan's Akari Fujinami in the round of 16 of the women's freestyle 53 kilograms.

Jamaica will miss the podium in the men's 4x100-meter relay for the second straight Olympics after finishing 11th overall in the opening round.

Men's 100m silver medalist Kishane Thompson was unable to make up for lost time in the final leg, as Jamaica placed fourth in the second heat at 38.45 seconds.

Jamaica finished fourth overall at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after winning gold in 2012 and 2016.

The U.S. punched its ticket to the men's 4x100-meter final with an impressive run in the first round.

Fred Kerley was cautious in taking the baton from starter Christian Coleman. Team USA dominated from there, as Kerley passed to Kyree King before anchor Courtney Lindsey left the rest of the field in the dust.

Team USA finished in 37.47 seconds, nearly a half-second ahead of second-place South Africa in the first heat.

Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek, who are competing in the men's 200m final later today, are expected to race in tomorrow's 4x100-meter final.

The U.S. posted the top time in the opening round of the women's 4x100m relay.

Melissa Jefferson, TeeTee Terry, Gabby Thomas and Sha'Carri Richardson combined for a 41.94-second run. Team USA had some shaky exchanges in the race, but they were able to get the baton to Richardson, who sped past the German anchor to secure a win in the first heat.

Great Britain won the second heat and had the second-best time overall with a 42.03. Jamaica, the reigning Olympic gold medalists, are through with a 42.35 despite injuries to several top runners.

Eight teams will compete in tomorrow's final at 1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT.

Raven Saunders and Jaida Ross of Team USA made it through shot put qualifying and will compete in tomorrow's final.

Saunders came through with a 18.62-meter throw on their final attempt, good for seventh place overall. Ross finished in eighth at 18.56 meters.

Two-time world champion Chase Jackson did not qualify for the final. The American posted a 17.60 on her final throw after two failed attempts, finishing 0.56 meters short of a qualifying spot.

Canada's Sarah Mitton had the best mark of qualifying at 19.77 meters.

Nevin Harrison is moving on to the semifinals in canoe single 200-meter after winning her heat in the qualifiers.

The two-time world champion was quick off the start and stayed ahead of her competitors through the end, crossing the finish line at 45.70.

Harrison, who became the the first American woman to win Olympic gold in canoe or kayak at the 2020 Tokyo Games, is aiming to defend her title in Paris. She will compete in the semifinals on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 5:40 a.m. ET/2:40 a.m. PT.

Anna Hall, Taliyah Brooks and Charli Hawkins of Team USA kicked off the women's heptathlon event with 100-meter hurdles this morning.

Brooks posted the second-best time overall at 13.00 seconds (1,124 points). Hall, the 2023 silver medalist at the world championships, finished in 13.36 seconds (1,071 points), while Hawkins clocked in at 13.16 seconds (1,100 points).

Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium began her chase for a third straight Olympic heptathlon gold with a 13.56-second time (1,041 points).

Switzerland's Annik Kälin led all competitors in the hurdles with a 12.87 (1,144 points).

Germany's Sophie Weisseberg had to bow out of the race after suffering an injury while warming up for the second heat.

American Evita Griskenas kicks off the rhythmic gymnastics competition with a hoop routine for rotation 1.

The Chicago-area native, and lone U.S. competitor in the event, performed to "Rachmaninoff: Piano concerto No. 2 in C minor/Op. 18-1 Moderato" by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Griskenas received a total score of 30.500, with deductions in artistry, execution and a low difficulty apparatus score of 5.2.

After a two-hour swim in the Seine River, Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands smacked the time board at 2:03:34.2 to win another gold in marathon swimming. Van Rouwendaal also won gold in Rio 2016 and silver in Tokyo 2020.

Moesha Johnson of Australia is taking the silver in 2:03:39.7 and Ginevra Taddeucci of Italy gets bronze in 2:03:42.8.

Rhythmic gymnastics competitions are set to get underway at the Paris Olympics this morning.

The U.S. has never medaled in the sport, but it will have a representative in Paris with Evita Griskenas competing in her second Olympics.

There is plenty of intrigue this year, as there will be no gymnasts from Russia or Belarus, two countries that have dominated the sport historically.
