Forecast: Elevated fire danger and potential for damaging wind gusts

NBC Universal, Inc. Vianey Arana tracks windy weather and fire danger in your Microclimate Forecast.

WEDNESDAY: Strong gusty offshore wind will peak overnight into early Wednesday morning with the strongest gusts over the mountains of the North Bay and East Bay hills and Diablo Range with peak gusts in the 50-70 mph range.

We’ll also see some strong wind gusts along the Santa Cruz mountains and Peninsula hills into Wednesday morning. Wind speeds should begin to decrease as we approach the evening but could remain fairly strong near the North Bay hills which could keep the red flag warning going into early Thursday morning.

We’ll see less wind and more clouds and some rain chances returning by Saturday best odds for rain however will be mostly to our north. A better chance for rain could be on the horizon for Monday.
